Abstract: Don will talk about the changes and evolution of cone collection in British Columbia over the past 100 years, and some of the interesting seed related projects he has worked on over the past 50 years.
Bio: Don Pigott worked in a variety of positions during his 13 years in the Forest Research Department at MacMillan Bloedel, where his responsibilities included seed supply for their reforestation program, establishment of their seed orchards, and supervision of their operational tree improvement program. In 1982 he founded Yellow Point Propagation Ltd., a private Silviculture company providing a wide variety of services including cone and seed supply and processing, and tree improvement consulting to the forest industry in British Columbia, Alberta, the United States, and Europe.
For the past 16 years Yellow Point Propagation has also been working on gene conservation projects with whitebark pine, limber pine, alpine larch and numerous other species.
