Chinese New Year – The first day of the Year of the Dog with celebrations all week and weekend throughout the Lower Mainland.
The Sheepdogs – in concert at the Commodore Ballroom.
Chutzpah Festival – the Vancouver Jewish Performing Arts Festival featuring theatre, music and dance performances.
Friday Night Live – live music, storytelling and a guest artist in North Vancouver at 3201 Mountain Highway. Cost is $10 and free for children 12 & under. Tonight’s show features the rock guitarist Don Alder.
Vancouver Giants Hockey – against Edmonton at the Langley Events Centre.
Robson Square Ice Skating – free ice skating at the corner of Robson and Howe.

Lunch will be self-pay at UBC’s Open Kitchen (however, please RSVP!). The Open Kitchen is only a two-minute walk from the Faculty of Forestry.
1pm Tour of Forest History holdings, UBC Rare Books and Special Collections. Chung collection (museum) also available. We will explore a rich range of maps, photos and etc from the HR MacMillan collection, Western Forest Products, and more.
6pm. Dinner at The Cove Restaurant, 3681 West 4th Ave (please RSVP for numbers).
7:30pm. Hastings Mill Store Museum. Tour and Presentation by historian/ author Lisa Anne Smith.
Sunday Feb 18th.
Open day. Travel home or take in other Vancouver attractions.
